From An Open Internet, Back To The Dark Ages

Dear Friend,

In December the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) plans to repeal already compromised regulations that are in place to maintain a semblance of “net neutrality”. Its chairman, Ajit Pai, and the corporations that are internet service providers want to sweep away these rules, just like the banking sector got rid of financial regulations so it could inflate our economies into giant ponzi schemes

The Commons is coming to the mainstream. The Labour Party in the UK, which has a good chance of taking political power at the next election, has been involved in a process of policy development which involves taking up ideas from the commons movement and is focused around the revival of and protection of commons.

While the Padmavati debate is going on, so much is happening in India and no one is noticing

A tribute to Dr.Latha Anantha who  passed away on Nov 16th 2017 after a three year battle with malignancy. She spearheaded the campaign to protect the Chalakudy river (in Thrissur district of Kerala) from the proposed Athirapilly H.E Project. She epitomized the right and sustainable balance between pragmatic science and esoteric deep ecological thought

While Zimbabwe was changing under various inexorable forces of power, the more sterile surrounds of The Hague and the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia offered the scene for a conviction.

Overseeing The Slaughter Overseas
by Richard Oxman

I submit that that’s one major reason why The Slaughter Overseas will proliferate. Another reason is the fact that the folks who are really calling the shots — overseeing the overseers, as it were — don’t even possess a spiritual side.

Kashmir On “Auto-Pilot”!

Bridging The Gender Gap
by Moin Qazi

The key levers for change, from the ground up, are clearly female education and women’s access to income. Women approach the future with creativity optimism and determination. They take economic ups and downs in stride. They show calm in the face of adversity. Above all, they work hard.
