Admiral Ramdas Requests Judicial Enquiry Into Judge Loya’s Mysterious Death

Dear Friend,

Former Navy Chief Admiral L. Ramdas has requested that a “high level judicial inquiry” into “mysterious circumstances” of the death of Brijgopal Harkishan Loya, the Special CBI Judge presiding over the trial of BJP President Amit Shah and several Gujarat Police Officers in the Sohrabuddin fake encounter case. In a letter addressed to Chief Justice of India Dipak Misra, Admiral L. Ramdas has requested that a “high level judicial inquiry” be immediately initiated.

The barbaric attack that killed 305 worshippers including 27 children during Friday prayers ( 24 November 2017) at the Rawda mosque in North Sinai, Egypt is a tragic reminder to the entire human family that the threat of terrorism is as deadly as ever.

Sukla Sen takes a detailed look back at demonetisation, one year later.

Also more stories from around the world.

The Vanishing Submarine: Hope And The ARA San Juan
by Dr Binoy Kampmark

The vanishing act of the Argentine diesel-electric submarine ARA San Juan with its 44 crew would have sent a shudder of communal feeling through the navies of the world.  The fate of the Russian nuclear-powered cruise missile submarine Kursk in 2000 and its 118 sailors, along with the bungles, the habitual secrecy and the cruelties of the aftermath, supplied an unwanted parallel.

The Betraying Arab League
by Dr Elias Akleh

Once again, the Arab League woke up from its deep slumber on November 19th 2017. The League was in a deep paralyzing sleep despite the urgent need for its duties to deal and to solve the issues inflicting the Arab World such as the threat of the terrorist groups, the Zionist Israeli brute oppression of Palestinian Arabs and the usurping of their farm land to build Israeli colonies, the holocaustic starving siege against Gaza Strip Palestinians, the Saudi/Qatari conflict, and the Saudi aggression against Yemen; all are urgent crises within the Arab World in need of resolutions.

The article is the 3nd section of the 5th part, in abridged form, of a series composed on the occasion of the Great October Revolution Centenary. The 1st – 4th and 6th parts and the 1st and 2nd sections of the 5th part of the series were originally carried by Countercurrents.org

The Rhetorical Trap: North Korea as “State Sponsor of Terrorism”
by Dr Binoy Kampmark

Are such designations ever useful?  At the stroke of a pen, an entire state is designated “terrorist” or a seemingly milder sponsor of terrorism, its name finding a way onto a list of supposed unmentionables and moral inverts.    Obscure groups and more notable countries huddle together, supposedly sharing some disreputable common ground and we are none the wiser on the content behind the categorisation.

How Iran Came to Be Called ‘The Top State Sponsor of Terrorism’
by Eric Zuesse

While I happened to be researching another subject, a central question in the investigation came to be how Iran — which supplied none of the 9/11 terrorists and no financing to them and no organizing of them, and which hasn’t been connected with nearly as many terrorist incidents globally as Saudi Arabia has — came to be officially called by the U.S. “the top state sponsor of terrorism.”

A Look at “Kill Anything that Moves: The Real American War in Vietnam”, by Nick Turse
by Robert J Barsocchini

Turse elevates his text to essential-status by illustrating that the insanity existed within a wider businesslike, statistical, assembly-line-efficient, top-down strategy of terror.

The Third That’s Needed
by Rachel Oxman

It is up to wise citizens to secure offices for wise men and women who are worthy of our collective efforts. People who see beyond their personal challenges. Servants of the Collective Good, capable of being part of a Grand Dream.

Amazon Abominations Judged Amiss
by Annapurna Tosca Sriramarcel

Who is ordering all that crap online? It’s not all folks who voted Republicans in. In fact, the vast majority of consumers of online products are quite clear about what’s happening below the stratosphere; they’re not at all out in space, not out to lunch when it come to our extinction of species, destruction of the oceans, etc.

Barbarism Is Back With A Bang
by Oliver DSouza

The UP CM Adityanath says criminals will be killed, that no power in the world can stop building of a temple at Ayodhya even though there is an established judicial process to try and sentence criminals and the Ram temple issue is sub-judice. Aadhar is being forced down the throats of citizens despite SC orders to the contrary. The RSS Chief says the sentiments of people are higher than the rulings of the Supreme Court in clear defiance of the Constitution of India.

India’s Constitution: When Nation Celebrated Its Adoption, RSS Mourned It
by Shamsul Islam

The Hindutva camp led by RSS which had consciously denigrated anti-British freedom struggle mourned this historic achievement. THREE DAYS after the CA passed Constitution the RSS English organ, Organizer on November 30, 1949, in an editorial rejected it and demanded MANUSMRITI as constitution.

Cultural Terrorists Of India: Where Do They Take Us?
by T Navin

Karni sena is in the news particularly for its violence to prevent release of the film ‘Padmavati’. The movie based on a fictional queen Rani Padmavati is the center of controversy following the threats of violence, intimidation and threat to burn down theatres

A Decent Shelter For India’s Homeless
by Moin Qazi

One of the most challenging problems of our times is homelessness. While we continue to record improvements in dealing with poverty, homelessness has been plagued with an unimaginative response from policy pundits. The apathetic approach of successive governments is symptomatic of the disease that ails India’s housing system.

NRC Row In Assam: On Asking The Right Questions
by Parvin Sultana

One should remember that those who are questioning the delay in preparing the draft of the NRC, questioning the ambiguity surrounding the identity of bonafide citizens, questioning the dubious procedure of marking genuine Indian citizens including ex Armymen as D voters, are not opposing NRC. But they are ensuring that NRC is prepared following the proper procedures
